Storage Unit Cleanouts in Hapeville, GA
Paying rent every month on a unit full of things you no longer use gets expensive. We clear the whole unit, haul it away, pull out what can be donated or recycled, and sweep the floor. You see the scope and price in writing before we pick up the first box.
When it's time to clear out a storage unit
A unit rented for a few months during a move, remodel or estate settlement often ends up holding the same boxes for years while the bill keeps arriving. A cleanout stops that. We bring a truck and crew to the facility, empty the unit and send each item where it belongs: donation, metal or electronics recycling, or the landfill.
Belongings fare worse in a storage unit than in a closet. Roll-up doors don't seal well, letting in dust and moisture, and through a Georgia summer a unit with no climate control can soften cardboard and work mildew into upholstery. Particleboard dressers swell at the bottom and break apart when picked up. We plan for that, bringing dollies, blankets and contractor bags so damaged pieces move without leaving debris in the hallway.
Before we begin, we write down the unit's contents, what we're removing and what affects the price. Keeping a few boxes? We set them aside or load them into your car first.
What the cleanout includes
Full load-out of the unit
We carry out furniture, boxes, mattresses, shelving, tools and loose items, from drive-up units to interior units down a long corridor. Our crew does all the lifting.
Sorting as we load
Usable furniture and household goods go to donation. Metal bed frames, steel shelving and appliances go to recycling. What is left goes to disposal, so less of your unit ends up buried.
Keep piles handled on the spot
Point out the boxes you want to keep and we stage them by the door. If you are not sure what is inside a box, we open it with you before it goes on the truck.
Sweep-out for move-out
Most facilities expect an empty, broom-clean unit before they close the account. We sweep the floor and pick up packing debris so the space is ready for the manager to check.
No leftovers in the facility
Facilities usually ban dumping in their bins or leaving items in the aisles. Everything we remove leaves on our truck the same visit.
Signs it is time to empty your unit
You can't name what is inside
If you have not opened the door in a year and could not list the contents, the rent is likely worth more than what is stored.
Musty smell when the door goes up
Mildew on fabric and cardboard rarely reverses. Soft furniture and paper goods that smell musty are usually headed for disposal, and waiting only spreads it.
Signs of pests
Chewed box corners, droppings or nesting in a mattress mean rodents have found the unit. Those items should go before the problem moves to the boxes you want to keep.
A move-out date is set
Leases usually end at the close of a billing month. Booking the cleanout before that date keeps you from paying for another full month.
An estate or downsizing left you with a unit
Units rented by a parent or relative often land on family members who live out of town. We can do the sorting and hauling while you make the decisions.
Cleanout day, step by step
- 1
Call for a written quote
Let us know the unit size, about how full it is and any heavy pieces such as a gun safe or piano. We can quote by phone or meet you at the unit for a free on-site estimate. Both ways, the scope and price are put in writing.
- 2
Getting into the facility
Share the gate code and unlock the unit, or meet us on site. We look up the facility's access hours beforehand so the crew isn't left waiting at the gate.
- 3
Loading, sorting, hauling
We work from the front of the unit to the back, sorting each item as it comes out. Depending on how tightly it's packed, a standard 10x10 takes a few hours.
- 4
Final sweep and check
We sweep the floor and go over the empty unit with you or send photos. Then you lock it or take your padlock off for the manager.
How a storage cleanout is priced
Most of the price comes from the truck space your items take up and how hard they are to get to. Each factor goes on your written quote, so you know what you're paying for before work begins. If the unit turns out to hold less than expected, the price drops to match the smaller load.
- How much is in the unit
- A packed 10x30 and a half-full 5x10 are far apart. Our price is based on how much of the truck your belongings take up.
- How heavy the load is
- Solid wood furniture, exercise gear, tile and boxes of books are heavier than they appear and can bring added disposal fees at the transfer station.
- Floor level and carry distance
- Drive-up units load right onto the truck. Interior units on upper floors mean freight elevators, long hallways and extra labor time.
- Items needing special disposal
- Tires, mattresses, and refrigerators or freezers that still contain refrigerant each have their own disposal steps and fees, which we spell out in writing before the job begins.
Storage unit cleanout questions
Something not covered here? (404) 738-8057
Do I have to be there while you clear the unit?
No. Many customers give us the gate code and either leave the unit open or share the lock combination. We match what's inside to the written scope and send you photos of the empty unit when we finish. You're welcome to meet us if you want to pull a few things yourself.
Will you take items the facility won't let me leave?
Most household things, yes, including furniture, mattresses and appliances that facilities refuse. Open paint, gasoline, propane tanks, pool chemicals and other hazardous materials are turned away at transfer stations, so we can't haul them, but we'll point you to where they can go.
How soon can you get to the unit?
Same-day and next-day service is available, based on our schedule and the facility's access hours. If your lease ends on a set date, tell us when you call and we'll work toward it.
Do you work at storage facilities outside Hapeville?
Yes. We clear units in and near Hapeville, including East Point, College Park and Forest Park, and the pricing doesn't change based on where the unit is.
Can you bring some things to my home instead of hauling everything off?
If you're keeping only a little, we can load it apart from the rest and drop it at your home on the same trip. The extra stop is written into the quote so the price covers it. If you want the whole unit moved, a moving company is a better fit.

Stop paying rent on things you don't use
Tell us the unit size and what is inside. We will give you a written quote with every cost spelled out and set a time that beats your next billing date.
