Basement Cleanouts in Hapeville
We empty basements down to bare floor: soggy cardboard, swollen particleboard shelving, old furniture, dead appliances and years of stored odds and ends. Before we carry a single item up the stairs, you get the scope and the price in writing.
What a basement cleanout covers
A basement cleanout is junk removal with harder logistics. Everything comes up a narrow stair, often around a landing or through a low doorway, and much of it has been sitting in damp air for years. Cardboard loses its strength, particleboard swells at the edges and falls apart when lifted, and upholstered pieces pick up mildew. We plan the carry around those conditions so items come out in one piece or get broken down safely first.
It is the right call when you are preparing to sell, finishing the space, recovering after water got in, or simply want the room back. If the job is mostly one heavy item, our appliance removal or furniture removal pages may fit better.
We walk the space with you, note what goes and what stays, and write it down with the price. That list is what we work from on the day, so nothing gets added later.
What we handle in your basement
Stored boxes and loose items
Holiday decorations, old paperwork, toys, tools and the boxes they sit in. Wet cardboard tears, so we bag or bin contents that will not survive the carry.
Furniture and mattresses
Sofas, recliners, desks, bed frames and mattresses, including pieces that went down before a railing or wall was added. If something will not clear the stairwell, we tell you up front whether it needs to be taken apart.
Old appliances
Chest freezers, spare refrigerators, washers, dryers and dehumidifiers. Freezers are often the heaviest single item in a basement, so we plan the route and the crew for them.
Shelving and workbenches
Metal shelving units, particleboard cabinets and homemade wood benches. We unbolt or break them down so they come out without gouging walls or stair treads.
Water-damaged materials
Soaked carpet, padding and stored items ruined by a leak or seepage. We haul the material out; drying, mold treatment and repairs are separate trades.
Final sweep
Once the room is empty, we sweep the floor and the path we used, so you can see the slab and walls without anything in the way.
When your basement is due for a cleanout
The musty odor never goes away
Wet paper, fabric and cardboard trap moisture and give mildew something to grow on. Getting them out is usually what lets a dehumidifier finally do its job.
The panel or water heater is boxed in
When stored things crowd the furnace, water heater or electrical panel, repairs take longer and are riskier. Plumbers and electricians need clear space to work.
The bottom boxes are stained or caving in
Boxes on the slab draw up moisture from the concrete. Once they stain and slump, what's inside has probably been damaged already.
You have a sale, remodel or inspection ahead
Inspectors and buyers want a clear view of the floor and foundation walls. With the room empty, cracks, efflorescence and old water marks are easy to check.
Pests are living in the clutter
Chewed paper, droppings and nests in stored things point to a problem the piles have been hiding.
How the cleanout runs on the day
- 1
Phone call and walkthrough
You describe the basement over the phone and we give you a quote, or we come out for a free on-site estimate. We look at the stair width, headroom and any tight turns, since those decide how heavy pieces come out.
- 2
Written scope and price
We list what is going, what is staying and the price, and you approve it before work begins. If you find more items later, we quote those separately in writing rather than folding them in.
- 3
Protect, then carry
We lay floor protection along the route through your home and pad railings and door frames where large items pass. Heavy pieces go up with two people, one above and one below.
- 4
Load and sweep
Items go straight to our truck outside. When the basement is empty, we sweep the floor and walk it with you to confirm everything on the list is gone.
What moves the price of a basement cleanout
Price is driven mostly by how much truck space the load takes and how hard it is to bring up. We explain each factor while we are looking at the space, and the total goes on the written quote before we start. No line gets added after the fact.
- Volume
- The amount of material, measured by how much of the truck it fills, is the biggest single factor.
- Stairs and access
- Steep or narrow stairs, low ceilings and tight landings add time and sometimes crew. An exterior walkout door makes the carry much easier.
- Heavy or awkward items
- Chest freezers, pianos, safes and cast-iron pieces need more hands and careful handling on stairs.
- Condition of the contents
- Wet carpet and soaked boxes weigh far more than dry ones and often need bagging, which adds labor.
- Disassembly
- Furniture or shelving that must be taken apart to clear the stairwell takes extra time, and we note it on the quote.
Questions about basement cleanouts
Something not covered here? (404) 738-8057
Does everything need to be sorted before you come?
No. Point out or mark what you're keeping and we haul everything else. If there are things you want to look through later, we can leave a pile in one corner. Moving valuables and personal items out ahead of time is a good idea.
Will you take wet or mildewed things?
Yes. We remove soaked carpet, pad, boxes and furniture, wearing gloves and bagging wet material so nothing drips through the house. We don't clean, dry or treat the basement for mold; those are separate services.
Is there anything you can't remove?
Paint, solvents, fuel, pesticides and pool chemicals aren't handled like ordinary household junk. Let us know what's down there when you call, and we'll be straight about what we can take and what has to be disposed of another way.
How much time does a basement cleanout need?
A half-full basement often takes a few hours. One that's packed, with heavy appliances and a narrow stair, can run most of the day. You get a realistic time frame with your written quote.
Could the move-out scratch my stairs or walls?
We cover the floor along the path and pad door frames and railings where large pieces go by. Anything that can't make the stair turn safely is taken apart rather than forced.

Make the basement usable again
Let us know what's stored down there and what the stairway looks like. We'll quote it on the phone or book a free visit to see it, and the scope goes on paper before any work starts.
